Chip Mahan: “I Couldn’t Do the Big Bank Thing” | Faith Driven Investor

In the first podcast, Chip Mahan sits down with Faith Driven Investor to discuss his career revolutionizing the banking industry. Don’t let Chip’s folksy style fool you. This guy is simply phenomenal. Chip has been in the banking industry since 1973 and is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wilmington, North Carolina’s Live Oak Bancshares, the nation’s leading SBA and USDA lender.

Besides his role of Chairman and CEO at Live Oak, Chip serves on several fintech and financial services boards including Apiture, a joint venture between Live Oak and First Data, which focuses on creating next-gen technology for financial institutions. He also serves on the board of Finxact, the cloud-native core-as-a-service platform founded in part by Mahan and other industry pioneers. In addition, he is a director for digital payments company Payrailz; cloud-based cyber security firm DefenseStorm; the American Bankers Association and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Chip is also a co-founder of nCino, a cloud-based banking software built on the Salesforce platform.

Andy Crouch: Technology as Mammon | Good Faith Podcast

The next podcast takes a more philosophical look at technology. Author Andy Crouch is a partner for theology and culture at Praxis, which works as a creative engine for redemptive entrepreneurship. He is author of “The Tech-Wise Family” (2017) and the “Strong and Weak” (2016), which build on the compelling vision of faith, culture, and the image of God laid out in his previous books, “Playing God” and “Culture Making”.

In this podcast Andy discusses his book “The Life We’re Looking For: Reclaiming Relationship in a Technological World”, taking a look at technology and the ways in which the forces of technology can separate us from one another and God, as well as opining on the spirituality of Pascal and variety of other topics.

Billy Graham: On Technology and Faith | TED Talk

Saving the best for last is a TED Talk from the great Billy Graham. Speaking at TED in 1998, the Rev. Billy Graham marvels at technology’s power to improve lives and change the world — but says the end of evil, suffering and death will come only after the world accepts Christ. Reverend Graham’s insights are just as prescient today as they were in 1998, if not more.
